I want to travel to Peru in Summer 2007 (preferably beginning of June or beginning of July).?

Travel Info
Any inexpensive group tours? Do you know of any cheap flights? I am traveling from Columbus, OH to Lima. I want to stay a week and a half to two weeks. Unless in a tour, I will be traveling alone. Any suggestions?

Travel Tips
You should try first this links:

Peruvian Embassy
http://www.peruvianembassy.us/ you could check up if there's any consulate near your area that you could go personally, I checked it out but I couldn't find one.

Then you should definitely check the Prom Peru site, this is the government organism in charge of promoting the country this is the website http://www.peru.info/perueng.asp... it has everything you'll need to know about cheap flights, tours and everything you need to travel to Peru.

Suggestions of places to visit are Lima, Cuzco (Machu Pichu), Huaraz, The Amazon (Iquitos), Arequipa, Puno, Cajamarca, Huancayo and Ayacucho.

Everyone loves Peruvian food and with good reason, here is a Peruvian restaurant in Columbus Ohio (I don't know any more, I live in Maryland). You could check it out before you travel:

Garcia's Restaurant
2573 North High Street
Columbus, Ohio 43202
614.246.8008

Hope this helps you

If youre not in a tour, try visiting some of the big cities. Lima, Arequipa, Cuzco are beautiful for their culture, buildings, and in general everything. If you decide to go to Cuzco and Macchu Picchu, try the Incan Trail. You walk through the mountains to Macchu Picchu as the Incans did. You walk and sleep on the mountains. Its very beautiful.
I have been to Peru a dozen times and have seen almost everything
You are wise to be asking questions and considering your options early.

One of the things you should be sure to arrange for is travel insurance. Lots of things can go wrong and you will be glad you have this inexpensive insurance. I suggest you get it independently - not through an airline or a travel agent. That way there in no chance of a conflict of interest. The industry leader is TravelGuard. Go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/i... and click on the red phone booth. You'll go to a page that shows you your options. Remember to buy the trip insurance within the first two weeks after you put down your first deposit of money for your trip - gets you some extra insurance benefits at no extra cost.

Best wishes.
I have family there in Lima Peru'. June July is the south American winter. Not too cold in Lima since you are at sea level. But the weather will trick you. Very damp. The 59c.15c will seem a lot colder (but I am from Texas so what would I know). I have a brother-in-law that drives a cab and he can drive you to safe spots and will not charge you an arm and a leg. I love to go to Nazca in the south and caraz in the north. very safe and not a lot of tourist. if you need any more info, please feel free to ask.
