Is it too rainy to travel in Peru in December? Also, what vaccinations should I get? |
Travel Info I am going to Peru December 23 through January 9. Hiking the 4-day Inca Trail on December 26. I've heard that this is the rainy season! Have anyone been there in December/January? Also, I am wondering what vaccinations people recommend. I don't think we plan on going into the rainforest, but you never know we might decide to check it out once we're there. Travel Tips I have been in Peru in Feb., also considered one of the rainy season months. Cusco would be pretty much sunny in the morning and then get some showers in the afternoon. Just keep some light weight rain gear with you and wear gortex boots and I think you will be in good shape.I have heard mud slides can be a problem sometimes only because they can shut down roads for a short time until they are cleaned up. You will have a blast doing the Inca Trail. Traveling anywhere in Latin America it is a good idea to have a hepatitis A vaccine. You don't need any malaria medication in the mountains, no malaria mosquitoes over 2500 meters. It sounds like you have already committed yourself to the trip so don't worry and have a great adventure. Others GET A FLU SHOT. * Sorry, the first answer had incomplete webaddresses - here is the correct information ************************* Peru does not require any immunizations for entry, although it recommends vaccination against Yellow Fever. ~ US Gov. webpage...
