Any tips or advice for a trip to Peru ?

Travel Tips

In Peru, we have 3 natural regions, so you have a lot to see any moment in a year:
From January to March is Summer in the coast. You can travell to Paracas and see the Nazca Lines and Ballestas Islands, or go to the Peruavian North to enjoy of the beachs, for example Colan and M谩ncora.
In February you can go to Puno (Andes) to attend the party of "Virgen de la Candelaria", meet to Titicaca Lake and Taquile Island.
You should visit Arequipa too, beautiful place where is the Colca Canyon and othe precious valleys.
From April to October you can go to the Peruvian Andes : Cusco, Huaraz (Cordillera Blanca y Callejon de Huaylas),
Huaraz is known like as the Peruvian Switzerland.
Other great places : Cusco, Machu Picchu and Choquequirao (the best months are from August to October), Cajamarca, Ayacucho, Huanuco.
In these months you can visit the Peruvian jungle: Iquitos, Manu Reserve in Madre de Dios, Pacaya Samiria Reserve, Allpahuayo Mishana Reserve, etc.
But, at any moment of the year you shouldn't forget to visit Caral (1 day), the fisrt city in all Americans Continents, it is located nearest from Lima, the Peru capital.
In Lima you can know some traditional places because Lima was the capital of the Viceroyal, museums, etc.
Finally, you can enjoy the Peruvian Food at any moment and place!! Source(s): I live in Lima, Peru

Other Travel Tips
Not what you were thinking maybe but....
Open a web based email account or similar, enter all of your passport details, travellers cheque numbers, important information in to it. change the password so only you and a contact or two in your home town know it. if for any reason you loose or have money stolen etc, your insurance and passort detail are to hand, and you have better chance of getting on with your holiday.

That depends on how much time you have....Cuzco & Macchu Picchu are a must...what I would do if you I got about 2 weeks: Lima (city tour), visit Arequipa and Colca Canyon...then go to Puno (Titicaca Lake) and end in Cuzco & Macchu Picchu....
There are other intereting places like Trujillo (Chan chan, huaca del sol y de la luna), Chiclayo (Se帽or de Sipan), Parcas & Nazca, etc.

Advice:
-Never show off your money, camera, watch or anything of great value.
-Don't walk alone at night...and don't pass thru dark places...
-Once you get to your hotel ask there which places around it you should avoid. Lima, Cuzco and other major cities (just like any major city in the world) have certain neighborhoods that are dangerous.
-Not everything is bad...there are friendly people, great nightlife, lots of things to see & buy.
