I'm looking to go to Peru for two weeks and want to trek the Inca trail whilst I'm there...? |
Travel Info can anyone recommend tour operators or should I book each segment of the trip independantly? What else can I do whilst in Peru? Travel Tips Dont use the tour operators they will rip you off,go straight to cusco and book it there. if you only have 2 weeks you have a choice of walking it or catching the train,if you are a student you can purchase the train ticket at reduced rates at the railway station. other places to see are lago tittacia ,the highest lake in the world. colca canyon at arequipa. the nazca lines. there are many things to see and do but im afraid 2 weeks isnt very long. if you need any more info please e mail me. Others kel_b has given some good pointers. You can also visit the Amazon from Iquitos. One thing you do need to beware is the plan by the Peru government to restrict numbers on that trek; they may have started to do so already. If so it will be too late to wait until you get to Cuzco, the places will be long gone. There are apparently other, similarly demanding and spectacular treks in Peru - though obviously not to Macchu Picchu which is presumably an objective (though as another correspondent advises, you can visit the latter by train from Cuzco, a not-to-miss city in its own right). See also Lonely Planet website. Been there, plus Wanderlust magazine, a highly reliable source. go to www.peru.com this site will help you to see which other places in Peru you can go besides Cuzco. i recommended visit this web side. www.epuertotravelperu.com this company offer Best option to do the Inca trail, have a good gear and very good guides. but need around 4 or 5 weeks to booking the exactly dates to do the trail only 500 person can made every day this famous trekking good luck The Inca Trail has become so crowded, I understand it is not very pleasant to hike these days. However, Peru is a fabulous place to visit and you can get plenty of hiking in, even just around Cusco. I heartily agree with the person who suggested you take a train to Machu Picchu (and plan to spend a couple nights there as it is a lot to absorb. There are several hikes within the reserve.) |
