To relocate from Canada to Peru, what do you need? Also, how much money? |
Travel Info I would like to own a home and rent it out. How much to expect from rental income?? Thank you!! RSVP. Travel Tips You would need to contact Peruvian immigration and get the information from them on moving and owning property/running business there. Depending on where the house is located would influence how much you could rent it for. Also, you'd have to figure in taxes, upkeep and insurance too. You'd probably want to take enough money to last you a year. Even though Canadian money is worth more than Peruvian money, you don't want to take any chances of being and expat without money. Others You automatically receive a tourist visa upon entrance to the country. This is valid for 90 days, at which point you either have to pay a small fee to extend it or leave the country and come back again. I'm not sure how a tourist visa affects your abiliity to own property. But I can tell you to be careful about living off rental income. You can't expect the same level of decency that you would get in Canada, and there are many horror stories about owners having their rental properties cleaned out and/or trashed. In addition, Peruvians will be unable to pay very much for their rent; even 300 US dollars/ mo will be a lot for them. That being said, the lower cost may mean you will be able to buy more properties than you normally would in Canada, perhaps evening out the problem there. Another thing is lease terms tend to be much more flexible there, so people will expect to be able to sign a lease for as little as 2 months! |
