Aguas Calientes or Cusco?

I have one night at the Sancutary Lodge and one spare day. Will I get more out of staying in a cheaper place in AC or returning to Cusco?

Aguas Calientes has very little going for it. Even the hot springs aren't worth going in, as they reek of urine! The town itself is nothing other than cheap and nasty hostels and restaurants (if they can be called restaurants?). Although we saw the funniest thing on a menu in one of them, but that's a different story. On the other hand you have Cuzco which is the most interesting place you'll go to in a long while. The only trouble you're gonna have is that 1 day in Cuzco simply isn't enough!!! You have untold amounts of architectural wonders, plus surrounding Inca ruins like Saccsayhuaman, Pukapukara etc. An excellent horse-back adventure will take you around all of them in 4 hours! Well worth it!

Cusco, no question. They don't charge you a fake tax, for one thing.
