Why should we conserve Machu Picchu?

Travel Tips
These guys are freaking idiots. You simply asked a simple question and they get all serious and mad. Get over it people. Just answer nicely. Pachacuti built Machu Picchu for himself and this estate was to be known in history for a great time. Therefore it takes a little bit of conservation to keep this place intact for long periods for the far future.

Because it's world history.
huh? It's a historical site, one of the greatest in the world. Why wouldn't we PRESERVE it would be a more appropriate question.
BECAUSE its an important historical site what a stupid question
Why not? My friend is an anthrologist for a local university and some of her co-workers visited there and took some amazing pictures, brought back artifacts, history and information. They created a Machu Picchu exhibit and it was absolutely amazing!! Just viewing the exhibit with my children made you want to go there to see it live. It's nice to be able to get to know other places and the lives of the people of that area when you don't have the means to visit on your own. See link for info.

Archaeologically speaking there are far more valuable sites than Machu Picchu. But evidently you have never been to Machu Picchu. The beauty of the site is not captured by mere photos. Standing, surrounded by 360 degrees of breathtaking beauty is so marvelous, so inspirational, as to provide the answer to why it should be conserved.
