Machu pichu?

Travel Info
Read the news from newspaper on 29 Jan 07, sin chow Malaysia. Machu Pichu is one of the potential sinking places& going to disappear after few decades due to the human destruction. Government spent for 7 thousand million (pound) try to secure the prestigious monument & to strengthen the foundation of Machu Pichu. And also, only 500 visitors restricted to the places per day. Is that true?

Travel Tips
It is true that Machu Picchu sits on a fault line and that the government has been spending money on repairing it (not 7000 million pound, but a couple of tens of millions of dollars), but I have heard nothing about restricting entrance to no more than 500 people per day.
There is a natural restriction to incoming tourists by the fact that the government hasn't allowed a road to reach Machu Picchu, so you either have to walk or take the train, and the amount of wagons the train can take is limited (as is the amount of people who can walk the Inca Trail).
So. No, it isn't true. Source(s): I live in Peru and was in Machu Picchu on October 2006
