Travel Info What do you think will happen if Fujimori returns to Peru? Travel Tips I disagree with globetrotter. Alan Garcia's government was much worse then Fujimori's and he not only returned to Peru but is now president again!! Fujimori is in exile in Chile, not Japan and will eventually come back to Peru but I honestly think nothing will happen to him just as nothing happened when Garcia returned. These politicians know how to cover their backs and the system is very corrupted. I will not be surprised if Fujimori is the next president of Peru. Dont think I'm crazy, Alan is the president now! I rest my case. Others His regime and him were so corrupted, I've heard it said. He is now in exile in his country of origin -Japan. If he should return to Peru, I have a strong feeling that the present government would arrest him and take him to trial or something. There is no way that a corrupt person can return to a country, after being discovered as corrupted, to be forgiven by the people or government of that country he had cheated or oppressed. That's not the way the world is. Even IF he has changed and is not like that anymore. Crimes are to be paid, to appease the population. Justice must take place. This is my observation and opinion. I'd hope he runs for President and I'd vote for him. Even though he got involved in corruption scandals, Peru's economy recovered from having a hyper-inflation and became one of the most competitive economies in Latin American. Something that the following president, Alejandro Toledo, couldn't maintain (he freaking put his family in the government's administration even though they barely finished High School) |
