South America Travel - Peru to Brazil?

Travel Info
I am planning a trip to South America in 2008. The plan is to do the inca trail. After that will go to Cusco. Then i would like to get to Manaus in Brazil straight after. Can anyone advise on a route between Cusco and Manaus? I don't want to spend long getting there, at the most i have one day to stop somewhere inbetween. Also trying to do this in an inexpensive way. I would appreciate any advice on the best method of transport and route between these places. Thanks.

Travel Tips
If you're really trying to get from Cusco to Manaus in 1/2 days then I think you will really struggle - especially if you're trying to do it cheaply.

I know a previous poster mentioned the following route:

- Cusco to Puerto Maldonado (flight)
- Puerto Maldonado to Brasileia (taxi/colectivo)
- Brasileia to Rio Branco (taxi/colectivo)
- Rio Branco to Manaus (flight)

and I think this would be your cheapest route (depending on the cost of the Rio Branco-Manaus flight. An arguably more interesting route, however, would be to fly Cusco-Lima-Iquitos and then get the speedboat down the Amazon to Tabatinga/Leticia. From here you can either fly to Manaus or get the boat down the river - the latter takes 4 days, though.

Either way, make sure you have your yellow fever certificate or Brazilian immigration will make you wait and get it at the border - officially they can actually just turn you back but in practice this rarely happens. Still, if you're in a hurry, it's something to be aware of.

Hope this helps,

Other Travel Tips
Wow, the two places I want to visit. I plan on going to Salvador de Bahia and to Cusco next year.

I looked in my travel guide and the airport in Manaus only takes flights within the country. You would have to fly into Belem from Peru and travel by air or bus from Belem to Manaus.
I,m near it.
No good road between places.
(you will have to travel through the forest)

You should take a airplane
I will tell u what i friend of mine did when he was going from Manaus to Cuzco, I suppose u can just do the opposite:

From Manaus to Rio Branco by airplane, from Rio Branco he took a bus until the bus station ( bcoz it was far and cheaper by bus) to get a taxi there at this bus station until Brasil茅ia.(stopped there to have the passport checked) From Brasil茅ia until I帽apari by taxi and had the passport checked again. Another taxi until puerto maldonado and from there he got a flight to cuzco.... there are some details about this trip so get more advice ok? ie currency, safety...
