Travel Info What's the name of the orange bird I've seen in Machu Pichu postcards?
Travel Tips
That orange bird has to be Peru's national bird which is called (in Spanish) Gallito de las rocas. It's scientific name is Rupicola Peruviana. Only the male has the black body and orange head, the female is all brown and looks like a guinea hen. They live mainly inside the jungles of Madre de Dios and the part of Cuzco which borders with Madre de Dios. Sometimes, if you are lucky, you can see one or two in Machu Picchu. If not, buy the postcard! |
