Travel Info Is a car, a must in Pennsylvania, in order to get around.? Travel Tips When we lived in Philadelphia, we had no car. Parking is outrageously expensive and cars get broken into on a regular basis. Phila has buses, subway, the el, and trollies. You can get anywhere you need to go on public transportation, plus you can always take a cab if you have some extra money. We moved to Bucks County and immediately bought a car because while it is possible to get around with Septa in Bucks County it is beyond inconvenient. There are only buses outside the city and for whatever reason the buses are the worst of the public transportation. They run on a completely different time schedule than the rest of the world. Probably you can get around Pittsburgh with public transportation, but I'm not sure, I've never lived there. I don't think Harrisburg has much public transportation, the city isn't that big. Hope this was helpful. Others It depends on where in Pennsylvania you are talking about. In large urban centers like Philadelphia, you can rely on public transportation or on taxis. |
