The Mint is a big, VERY secure place. The outside garage doors are like 8' thick and all of the guards on the inside are fully armed. The area itself is very well protected because of the fact that it's Independence Mall, home of the Liberty Bell and the Constitution Center. I think they may have started tours back up, but I don't know how detailed they are. They produce currency as well as special items for sale. Look it up on the internet. Others If the armed guards scare you, I would suggest you take the tour of the Philadelphia Cream Cheese factory. It's not as hot in there either. |
