What's the best place to live in Philly? |
Travel Info I'm thinking of moving to Philadelphia soon, and I was wondering which neighborhood is best. I'm looking for a 1 Bedroom apartment around $500-$600. I also want something near a Gym. Travel Tips You're going to be hard pressed to find "the best area in Philly" for $5-600 a month. That money MAY get you a place in University City (UPenn and Drexel), but it will most likely be small and, honestly, pretty crappy. They don't do too good of a job keeping up with those places only because they know another college kid will ruin them again. You may be better off looking for someone who needs a roomate, or ask for one yourself. There is Craigslist (though, I must say that I met some freaks on there) and there are also some websites based strictly on finding roomates. If you really want to find something that's nice and in a safe area, be prepared to spend up to $600 a month if you're splitting a place with one other person or at least $700 if you're trying to find a 1 bedroom loft. Others Unless your black or crazy white trash, don't move to Philly. Canada. The best place to live in Philadelphia is Center City. However, you won't be able to find anything priced between $500-$600 per month. If you do find something of that price, it won't be in a very good neghborhood. Realistically, in that price range you'll need a roommate. I lived in a decent area of South Philly, with one roommate in a nice house, for about 500 a month. If you want to be close to bars etc., you'll need to pay a bit more. It's hard to tell what's good and what isn't from a map, though: you kind of have to hit the streets yourself and make the call. Most of Center City is pretty good these days, if you don't mind spending 600 to 800 for rent (that's for a studio, or splitting a 2BR). You should find a place near a cheesesteak or cheesecake shop, or something. I really don't know sorry. Northeast philly is the best for your money-close to the (city)-but a good part of town-I grew up there-loved it |
