Marriott hotels in philadelphia? |
Travel Info looking for a recommendation for a one night stay - with family (kids) need nice indoor pool. must be marriott (need to use points). perhaps within walking distance to restaurants or other stuff. Travel Tips http://marriott.com/search/findhotels.mi... I'm sure you may have been looking for more than an airport stay. I see 3 in Center City. All 3 look to be in the same general vicinity of Center City itself though, so I guess it would be a matter of looking into exactly what you want from the hotels. There's plenty to do around there, even for the kids... Please Touch Museum, Franklin Institute, Academy of Science, the museums a ton of restaraunts, etc. Check these out for restaraunts as well... www.foobooz.com www.philadelphiamagazine.com Others The Philadelphia Airport Marriot has a pool, 2 restaurants that are nice, is about 200 meters from Denny's and one other restaurant (forget the other one), and is an 8 minute ride from the Airport. Best of all, it is one of the cheapest ones. I am often in Philadelphia for business (my company headquarters are in Center City. I'm a Platinum level frequent guest with Marriott. You can't go wrong with any of the 3 downtown Marriott properties which are literally within a block of each other. The full-service Marriott is nice, as is the Courtyard but I'd try to book the Residence Inn downtown so you have the kitchen AND their full, free breakfast. My guess is that it takes about the same number of points as the full-service Marriott. Valet parking at all three hotels will be expensive ($30 plus per night) and you cannot use points for that. The airport Marriott is built right onto the terminal but wouldn't stay there unless you needed the airport access. While you can take the R1 train to/from Center City ($5.50 each way) it's not convenient and you lose a lot of time traveling to/from. IF you do fly into the Philadelphia, take a cab to Center city (flat-rate cost $30 including tip) rather than the train. The R1 train isn't really set up for folks with luggage. There is lots to see and do, plenty of restaurants, etc. nearby any of the Marriotts. Don't miss the Reading Terminal Market for a unique experience. Historic sites are about 10 long blocks away... walk there (or take the subway) and take a cab back. Center City is safe at night on the main streets.... the Mariotts are in a very safe area (very near City Hall and Courthouses with lots of police presence). Philadelphia is a great city.
