What is the origin of Pennsylvania?

Travel Info
how pennsylvania got its name

Travel Tips
William Penn was the guy who got the right from the king of England to take ownership of as much land as he could travel in one day, for a new colony. He was smart enough to get a team of horses in place so that when his first one got tired he could switch to a rested one that was waiting. He ended up with a big parcel of land. Since sylvan was the Latin phrase for a woodland he named his forest-covered area "Pennsylvania"

Ask William Penn, I think he has a good idea.
William Penn came from England on the ship "Welcome" in 1682. During that year, another 23 ships brought other Quakers to what would become Pennsylvania.
