I麓m going to Philadelphia next week and I麓d like to know if it is easy to know the city on foot? |
Travel Info I mean if it is possible to reach the main attractions without a car. thanks Travel Tips Way more to see in Philadelphia the just the Liberty Bell. As others have said most Historical stuff is in the same general area. Liberty bell is great and right across from Independece Hall (Appointment needed for tour). There's all so The Philadelphia Museum of art (Remember the movie Rocky?) The Natural History Museun is near that as weel as The Fraklin institue which is a science museum with an awesome Planetariam. There are also Tour buses that for I think $25 you can ride and get off and on at many locations throughout the city. One of the strangest museums Philly offers is Mudder Museum which has a collection of Old devices used in the Medical feild Intresting and scary.( Link below to more Museums). OK lets talk food. While "Book Binders" is a Philadelphia institution there are lots of great places. One of the newest is called the "Water Works" it housed in the old Philadelphia Waterworks (Hence the name) it looks out over the Scuhykyll river great views of "Boat House" row lite up at night. This is not a moderatley priced place expect to pay about $125 per person (APP. Main course. Dessert and Cocktails) great food, great service great location. For lunch while tere you must have a Philly Cheesesteak and a Soft Pretzel. Last link is my recommendation for a Cheese Steak place. Its an Old Philly debate "Which are better Pats steaks or Genos steaks?" There Practicale right across the street from each other so you can decide which to get when you get there. Weather permitting I would also try to see "The Philadelphia zoo" It is "Americas first zoo" and is very cool. Other Travel Tips pretty big city to do that, but if you have lots of time and energy - go for it Sure, since alot of the main important things to see are sort of bundled together. The only thing is: Philly is one of those places where one wrong block over and you're in a part of town you don't want to be in. I'd take a car. the only attraction is the liberty bell aand its in the center of town, eat over at bokbinders its the most famous resturant in town The main attractions of historic Philadelphia are mostly within walking distance around Society Hill, but if your list also includes other highlights such as Chinatown, the Italian Market, the Art Museum and the Franklin Institute, you'll want to use a bus or cab or you'll get pretty tuckered out. Depends on how much walking you like to do? For the major tourist locations in Old city, Penn's landing, ChinaTown, City Hall & such, Yes!! The Art Muesum, Franklin Institute on the Parkway and Kelly Drive are a bit of a hike. If you made it that far? The Zoo is another Few blocks at 34th and Girard. The town is easy to walk in and has large street signs. |
