Is there a house called the DeWees House in Valley Forge? |
Travel Info DeWees is my last name and i would appreciate it if someone could give some information on this house. Travel Tips Yes, the name DeWees is associated with Valley Forge. Unfortunately, I don't remember the details of who he was, but I thought he was perhaps a General. I used to work with someone from Indiana who's last name was DeWees. This is why I picked up on the name when I visited Valley Forge. His name is mentioned on the NPS brochure. Check the NPS web site and see if you can find anything or in a worse case call a ranger at the park. The Dewees' House was one of the buildings in the village of Valley Forge that the Continental Army used. The army used houses and industrial buildings such as the Dewees' House for courts martial, breadbaking, and arms and equipment repair. |
