Travel Info my husband is in the navy and we have orders to willow grove pa which is near philadelphia pa, anyone know anything about the area? anyone know anything about the military housing on base? the weather? any info would be great. Travel Tips Here are some sites for some good info. I was never staioned there, but I had a couple of friends that were there and absolutely loved it. Good luck on the PSC move. http://www.cnrma.navy.mil/nasjrbwg/... http://benefits.military.com/misc/instal... https://www.nexnet.navy.mil/pls/nexjobs/... Others Use Google and type in Willow Grove Pa, and it will bring up the city/town whatever it is. its a pretty nice neighborhood. They also have pretty good schools. I went there for 7th and 8th grade. Also they have a fantastic mall! The weather is actually weird right now. Today it was about 40 or 50 and a couple of days ago it was 70. But it usually is pretty normal. (cold in the winter and hot in the summer). All and all its a pretty good place to go. and we love our troops here so u and ur husband will get plenty of support. If u need any more help let me know. epanulla@yahoo.com Willow Grove is nice...I went to college the next town over. They have a great mall and lots of shopping centers. It's close to Bucks county, which is pretty affluent. It's also not far from center city Philadelphia (if you like going into the city) and pretty close to New Jersey. The weather is average...typical 4 season weather. Summers aren't terribly hot, though you get an occasional heat streak. Winters usually have some snow in January/February...though this year seems to be much warmer. I had a friend in the Air National Guard who stayed at the base 1 weekend a month...didn't hear anything bad about it, and knowing her I would have if there was! It seems like a great area. Good Luck! The base is right on route 611. You should enjoy the area. There is alot of new shopping areas around the naval air station. Movie theaters, restaurants with in a mile. You are very close to Doylestown, Lahaska, Newtown, and New Hope. These are beautiful towns. Wooded parks nearby and winding roads. Antique shoppes, even open air markets. There are alot of local events like plays and performances. But these areas arent stuffy. They have a very welcoming attitude toward the motorcycle community. I love spending time in that area. You should enjoy it as long as you take some time to check out what the local area has to offer. Grew up in this area it's a typical, big suburb in Montgomery Co. Has alot of chain restaurants, shopping, large movie theater, mall etc. Philly is about 45 mins away. New Hope is great on a Sunday afternoon of shopping, eating drinking. Lambertville is on the New Jersey side, has a great flea market. On the Delaware River you can rent canoes and tubes. Lots of state parks in Bucks County. One of my favorites in the summer is Musikfest in Bethlehem You'll be about 1 1/2 hrs. from Jersey Shore-my fave Long Beach Island. www.gophila.com www.fest.org |
