What is there to do in eastern Pennsylvania? |
Travel Info My bf and I are from WV. He is currently going to school in PA located near Philly. He is a big fan of the countryside, and i thought it might be nice to take him somewhere to relax. The thing is, I dont know anything about PA, nor do i have a whole lot of money to spend. Could someone please help me out by telling me some nice, fairly inexpensive places to take him. Maybe like a ski resort or a state park with hotels near by or something like that. Thank you! Travel Tips There are a lot of state parks and places to ski in eastern PA. Although I can't vouch for the state parks in winter. You might want to start with Pennsylvania's tourism site. You can search for things to do by geography and it's pretty comprehensive. There are also podcasts with suggestions. Start with this Things to Do page: http://www.visitpa.com/visitpa/thingstod... Here's the main page: http://www.visitpa.com/visitpa/home.pa... I hope this helps! Have fun! Others check out chester county, i am there right now.... longwood gardens is really cool..... plenty of ski places to go to, but you are gonna have to drive a couple hours north.... as far as a state parks you have valley forge park in the king of prussia area It looks like everyone covered the outdoor aspects well. You might also try New Hope and Lambertville. They're on the Delaware River, New Hope is in PA, Lambertville is just across the small bridge from New Hope in NJ. The area has been a getaway spot for people from New York and Philadelphia for over a 100 years. It's really a fun place to spend a day or overnight...very walkable, even between the 2 towns, so you can park your car and leave it once you get there. Lots of shops, restaurants and walkable scenery. New Hope is the more crowded of the two, I prefer Lambertville. Check out the Boathouse Bar at Hamilton's Grill Room, right off the bridge...a great bar wedged into an upstairs area of an actual former boathouse...very comfortable and cozy place on a cold night. www.lambertville.org I am familiar with Pennsylvania. There are a lot of ski resort including Camelback which offers family activities as well. In addition, there are lots of museums as well. Check out GoPhila.com maybe you'll get some good Ideas There is a lot to do in the Poconos and a lot of cheap resorts and home rentals. |
