What are 3 "can't miss" things to do 3-day weekend in Philadelphia? |
Travel Info I'm 27 and will be traveling with my mom. Travel Tips Musts: The Liberty Bell/Independence Hall is a definate must. Eat a cheesesteak - Jim's on South Street is my personal favorite Franklin Institute - you will not believe what you learn Other things you might want to check out: Italian Market - Yum! Penns Landing has some nice events depending on when you'll be there - www.pennslandingcorp.com The Art Museum is phenomenal but its huge - it takes a good 3-4 hours to get through it so if you are not a big art fan, I'd skip going in and just visit the Rocky statue and see if you can run all the way up to the top of the steps. Morimoto's restaurant is fantastic - if you like sushi this is the place to go. South Street has some great shops, bars and resturants. If you have time to get out to Manayunk, that's another great neighborhood to stroll around. The zoo is nice but in the end its just a zoo. There's nothing quintessentially "Philadelphian" about it although it is the country's first zoo. Have fun!!!! Others make sure you go to old city (dont take ur mom) Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Franklin Institute Science Museum... if you have little kids, Sesame Place isn't far either. Liberty Bell Centre, Independence Hall, National Constitution Centre, Philadelphia Museum of Art Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia Museum of Art , The Franklin Institute, Liberty Park. Eat at Morimoto's restaurant-he is the Iron chef from television. You have to make a reservation in advance. We went there for my son's 21st birthday-flew up from FL and it was worth it. http://www.morimotorestaurant.com/... The Philadelphia Zoo, The Italian Market, and South Street. The zoo is self explanatory. The Italian Market is a bunch of vendors that sell pretty much any kind of Italian food plus other stuff in a kind of flea market type setting. South St. has a bunch of shops, restaraunts, and bars. Also, while on South St. you need to taste test both Geno,s and Pat's steaks. defin hit up Rittenhouse Square which has alot of fine dinning returants then roll over to olde city for drinks and alittle dancing. when the clubs let out roll over south philly to Geno's steaks and get the best cheesesteak in the whole world. Order a pizza steak whiz without(meaning without onions unless you want them) and say it just like that or they will be rude that is just how philly is so don't be surprised.2nd day hit up all historical stuff like the liberty belll betsy ross house and franklin institute. 3rd day got to Libertys bar on 2nd and fairmount is a very nice little place to dine and have a few drinks. |
