Best way to get to philadelphia (wachovia center) from nyc? |
Travel Info I'm looking to go to the NY Rangers game vs Philly Flyers on 3/31/07. I'm trying to find a train from nyc or New Jersey (closest towoodbridge, nj) to go to: Wachovia Complex 3601 S. Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19148 Travel Tips Here's a tip - bring cash for the taxis if you're planning on taking one. Currently, there's a huge controversy about taxi drivers refusing to take credit cards in Philadelphia. Drivers are charged a 5% fee for taking credit cards, and many of them are extremely unhappy about it. They've been refusing passengers who want to use credit cards. Others Here's how to go by public transportation: New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor line has a Metro Park station, located where the Garden State Parkway meets Route 27 (which is close to Woodbridge). I reccomend you check www.njtransit.com, where you can find a schedule for the line and decide what time you want to leave. Anyway, start your trip here by catching a train bound for Trenton. When you arrive in Trenton, purchase a SEPTA ticket to Philadelphia and board the R7 line. This will take you into Center City, where you should get off at Suburban Station. From Suburban Station, follow the signs in the underground pedestrian concourse leading you to the Broad Street Subway. When you arrive at the Subway's City Hall station, get on a southbound train and take it to the end of the line--the last stop is Pattison, which is at 3500 S. Broad Street and in easy walking distance of the Wachovia Center. Since it will be a game night, you can expect to be traveling with other fans, so you should have no trouble following the crowd to the stadium. Needless to say, you would follow the opposite route home: take the subway to City Hall, follow signs to Suburban station, board an R7 headed to Trenton, and finally catch an NJ Northeast Corridor back to MetroPark. P.S. www.septa.org has schedules and maps for Philadelphia's transit, if you would like a visual aid. Let me know if there is anything I can clear up. If not, enjoy your trip to Philadelphia, and enjoy the game! Yeah, what he said. Otherwise, go to Penn Station and get an express Amtrak to Philadelphia, then subway or Taxi to game. Take NJ Transit from Penn Station to Trenton. Change trains to the R7 in Trenton. Get off at 30th Street Station, Philadelphia. Go outside of the station to the subway and catch the subway to the Wachovia Center. This is the cheapest way and will take you 3 hours. Each way will cost less than $20. (Go to www.septa.org and use their trip planner for your best bet on schedules). If you want to get there faster, take Amtrak to 30th Street and get the subway or a cab from there. This will cost you closer to $100 each way. You should be able to catch a train from NY to 30th Street station in Philly and then hop on the Broad street subway to the game and it drops you right there at the Sports Complex area and you only have a short walk into the Wachovia Center. |
