I want to move to Philadelphia, I don't have a car, advice? |
Travel Info also where is the best places to find office work is there a large metro area where trains and buses are very accessiable.. and what are some good places to live in that are not far from the metro area? really want a change looking at finding work in that area... but I want to be able to get around and afford it.. I am from Chicago is Philadephia alot different? Travel Tips You don't really need a car in Philadelphia. We have an wonderful transit system, very similar to Chicago, not as large as New York. Philadelphia is broken into several sections (North, West, South, NW, Center City, SW, NE). All areas are accessible to either the bus, subway, or a train (rail) line. Center City or Downtown (as most Philly folks say) is packed full of offices buildings, like Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Comcast, loads of banks and city agencies. You can also get a job application at City Hall, which is also downtown. There are many opportunities, not just in Center City, but in surrounding areas as well. There is the Gas Company, Temple University, The Housing Authority, The Water Department, etc. All offer office work plus some! There also are several ad agencies in Philadelphia. Good places to live depends on what you are looking to spend. Center City is very expensive. There are economical places in the Northeast, Mt. Airy, Chestnut Hill, Germantown, West, South, and North Philly (some areas in North, South, and West Philly are not the best, so be mindful when looking). Philadelphia is very much like Chicago...just not as cold! Good luck1 Source(s): Born and raised in Philly! Other Travel Tips try finding the nearest hotel or aparments to that area. ask the local under the general communiity category- http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/... |
