Kennywood or Idlewild? |
Travel Info We are planning on going to either Kennywood or Idlewild in PA. this summer. We have never been to either one...are they even worth going to? We have 4 children under 7. Which is better for them? Also, are there campgrounds near there? Thanks! Travel Tips With children that young to consider I'd pick Idlewild. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at what Idlewild has to offer for family attractions. Do you know you can take a trolly ride to Mr. Rodger's Neighborhood? Idlewild also offers Storybook Forest, it's so nice for kids to see their favorite stories come alive. You may also want to consider Knoebel's Amusement Park, it has a really nice campground and they provide a shuttle bus to and from the park. Both parks are located in the Allegheny Mountains so the drive there is breathtaking. Source(s): http://www.pennsylvania-mountains-of-att... Other Travel Tips Too bad there isn't a Pittsburgh section on YA cause asking people in Philly this is pointless. Idlewild is more rustic and more space and a little more kid friendly. Kennywood "the rollercoaster capital of the world" is ok but more geared toward yound adults. It has a campground/picnic area and more activities than Idlewild but most of the rides are geared toward the older set. The do have a small park w/in a park dedicated to rides for the younglings. http://www.idlewild.com/ http://www.kennywood.com/ Like the first guy said, were on the wrong side of PA to answer this one..... Idlewild is the better choice for families with small children. Kennywood has many more rides that are for adults only, plus it is located very close to Pittsburgh, so the crowds are definitely bigger and could be overwhelming for a family with 4 small children. Idlewild is located in a nice rural setting. As for camping, I know that Keystone State Park is located fairly close to Idlewild, plus there are other state parks located about 30 minutes away in Somerset County. |
