Travel Info Anyone from the Philly area heard of the Mutter museum and how did you like it. Thinking about going this wknd Travel Tips Do you find yourself watching those shows on the Learning Channel about people with unusual diseases or strange afflictions? Then this is the museum for you! I've been and its a great exhibit. The collection was put together to help medical students learn about the human body - in all its variety. There are skeletons for very short and very tall people, a plaster cast of identical twins, an exhibit health problems of Presidents (think secret surgeries). There's even a cabinet filled with objects that have gotten stuck in people's throats (and later fished out by doctors - it leaves you scratching your head.) It's all very fascinating. It's a one of a kind place and one of those off the beaten track destinations that a lot of people miss b/c they just don't know about. I hope you enjoy your visit. Here's the website for more information: http://www.collphyphil.org/mutter.asp... Others i heard of it and it sounds cool in a morbid way.lots of strange medical stuff etc.check it out,its better then sitting home all day The Mutter museum is FANTASTIC!! It really is a site to see, because you don't really find museums like that all over. If you have the chance, check it out! If anyone gets queasy, I would be cautious. I was there years ago, and despite the fact that it's sort of creepy, it actually pretty cool too! If you have a strong stomach, I would go. Have fun! It is awsome.. i went there last year and had a great time.. i mean some of the stuff is disturbing.. but kewl all at the same time.. haha.. but def. go..but i hope you know that is a museum of human deformities.. it's really interesting though.. have fun!! Mutter Museum is around 22nd and walnut area (cant remember exactly where). It is a museum made up of of consolidated collections of freakish medical oddities called "anomalies". They have wax casts of people with horns and things, a collection of things removed from people's stomachs and even strange skeletons and skulls. It can be a bit disturbing, even morbid, but it is a worthwhile destination for somebody with medical or at least a healthy interest. |
