Travel Info What is it like to live in altoona pennsylvania? Travel Tips The mountains around town are really beautiful, but I must say that Altoona overall is dull and has seen better days. The city itself is very run-down in many areas, and it seems that the drug problem is growing by leaps and bounds yearly. The job market is almost non-existent except for retail positions (much like any small town in America for the most part.) The city is trying to improve in some ways....we now have an excellent minor league baseball team and the stadium is top notch for a AA team. But, I am afraid the negatives outweigh the positives in my opinion. Source(s): Living in Altoona. Other Travel Tips A few years ago, my daughter served an 8 week internship there, a a physical therapy student, at a rehab hospital, Now, i have absolutely No idea what the job market is like,but i found it to be a rather charming small city. It was clean, the people were frienly, and the surrounding hills were beautiful; The restuarant we often ate at had these desserts which were absolutely delicious,but you gained 5 lbs just by looking at them. Visiting her made for a most enjoyable weekend. Altoona is a nice little city to live in. It's big enough to offer plenty of attractions and shopping areas, yet small enough to offer a small town community. People still sit on their porches and kids still play in the streets, neighbors are friendly and look out for their neighborhoods. Of course Altoona is dealing with blight problems in some areas and drug abuse, but what small city in American isn't? All in all, Altoona is a nice place to live and visit. http://www.pennsylvania-mountians-of-att... Have to agree with the second poster, it is a dull city. I have a friend who lives nearby and I hate going there. I mean it's good to go visit her but there is really not a whole lot to do there. Boring..... |
