Adults only. Any sites to see on car trip between Philadelphia and Scranton, PA? |
Travel Info Any nice restaurants for lunch? Or tourist attractions to see? Thank you. Travel Tips I drive this way a lot on the NE extension of the turnpike. It's really only about a 2 hour drive so we almost never stop in between. However, check out the town of Jim Thorpe. It's got an interesting history and there's a couple good restaurants in the area: http://www.jimthorpe.org/ Others take RT611 all the way too scranton. it takes you through the water gap and awesome scenic views of the delaware river. Depends on the route you take and how long you want the trip to last. There is lots to do in Philly and the surrounding areas. The poconos raceway / NASCAR hall of fame is kind of on the way if thats your sort of thing. There are lots of outdoor type activities: lakes/hiking/rivers/etc. If you take the Northeast extension you will see nothing (about 2 hr ride) .....but you can take route 11 or route 309...this will take you through towns and you'd have a little more to see. Here is a site that you can map things out plus different attractions, sites, history etc. BTW Jim Thorpe is a nice place to see and there is a place called Trainers Inn...it's off the turnpike at the lehigh exit (the very first exit after the lehigh tunnel... they have good food there. http://www.visitpa.com/visitpa/regionsde... Have a home in Philly and in Wilkes-Barre...always back and forth |
