south side philly
Others
anywhere except the North and West
Society Hill, Old City, Manayunk, Center City (Rittenhouse). All have decent schools, lower crime and good restaurants.
There are loads of decent neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Like most Urban areas, there are pockets of crime areas. Nice neighborhoods include: Mt. Airy (East and West); Chestnut Hill; some parts of upper Germantown; upper and mid Northeast; Wynnewood; some parts of North Philadelphia (near the Art Museum area); some parts of South Philadelphia; Center City; Roxborough; Manayunk.
Good luck!
Born and raised in Philly!
Here's a great website that breaks down all the areas and will give you all the apt companies in a given area

Eat Falls. It is a very old neighborhood.
Olney..it is centrally located.
A lot depends on what you want to pay to buy a home or what you are willing to pay in rent.
