Where is a decent hotel in Philadelphia that is within walking distance from some bars, clubs and resturants? |
Travel Info I'm going to Philly for the weekend and would like to find a reasonably priced hotel near Penn's Landing or close to South Street. Or anywhere in the city that is close enough to downtown for walking where I wanted to go. Travel Tips Check out the Doubletree on Broad Street. If you want to stay near Penn's Landing, I believe there is a Sheraton on 2nd or 3rd street. If you look on Hotels.com you can get some good deals. I agree with the above, anywhere in Center City is going to be okay, you'll have no problem getting around because everything is close together. Others Center City Philadelphia isn't that big, you can almost stay anywhere and be close to everything. I recommend staying in the center of the town, somewhere close to 11th or 12th street near Market St. The Society Hill Sheraton is in walking distance to South St and Penn's Landing. There are also plenty of good restaurants practically across the street: Positano Coast, Sfizzio's, Keating's River Grill, Bookbinder's and City Tavern. You may also want to consider staying in midtown Center City. Marriott has 3 properties at City Hall: The Downtown Marriott, The Courtyard and Residence Inn. All 3 hotels are a good location-- close and in the mix of everything: shopping, dining, the arts, tourist attractions, bars and nightclubs. Also, there's easy access to taxis and public transportation (SEPTA). Good restaurants in that area: Melting Pot, Maggiano's, Fogo de Chao and Capital Grille. (I do not recommend McCormick & Schmick's) Check out the room rates for the Residence Inn. Its rates are usually comparable to most other hotels, but the amenities at RI are much better b/c the rooms are set-up as 1-BR and studio apartments. There's a living room, dining area and full kitchen w/ appliances. RI also offers a complimentary breakfast, a small pool and gym. Enjoy your Philly visit. Try the Hyatt down on Penns Landing. It's a very nice hotel. Stayed there a few times. Have fun! |
