Where can I get a decent lunch in Center City Historical District? |
Travel Info Something different. Tired of sandwiches and soups, hoagies, pizzas for today! Thank you Travel Tips Historical District has a lot of good restaurants. Here are a few that offer more than the usual faire. Positano Coast - 2nd & Walnut: Italian cuisine. Good food with a nice view from the outdoor balcony seating Sfizzio's - 2nd & Locust Walk: Nuevo Italian cooking that adds a twist to traditional dishes. Nothing gimmicky-- good food cooked with a little flare. Jones - 7th & Chestnut: American menu. Good solid Cuba Libre - 2nd St, south of Market: Very trendy. Great food. Excellent sangria!! Not cheap, but not too expensive either. Watch the bar tab. Continental - 2nd & Market St: Very trendy. Tapas style menu. Bookbinder's - Front & Walnut St: Seafood. Old Philly landmark and restaurant staple. Little over-rated and overpriced, but a nice ambiance and good meal. El Azteca - 7th & Chestnut: Mexican menu. No frills kind of place. The food is authentic, filling and plentiful. Go hungry or plan to carry a doggy bag. City Tavern - 2nd & Walnut St - Early American menu and setting. Even the wait staff are dressed in period costumes. Others Mexican Post at 104 Chestnut St. If you like Mexican. Yum! Any of the Steven Starr restaurants (http://starr-restaurant.com/) The Continental is real nice. Most are realy trendy and will cost you more than a burger or pizza let say... Mrs. K's (near the visitor's center right next door to the national liberty museum) has a killer breakfast all day. The waitresses are the nicest in the city. It's like... Chestnut and 3rdish Try Zekes on 5th street below walnut (diner food), Pink Rose on 4th and bainbridge is great. There's good Indian places at 12th and walnut (Samosa) and one at 2nd and Chestnut. Alliyan's (middle eastern) at 4th and South. |
