A lot of Bucks County is nice (although there are still parts to stay away from). Overall the best neighborhoods in Bucks County are in the Council Rock (Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, Upper Makefield Township, Northampton Township), Central Bucks (Doylestown Borough, Doylestown Township, Chalfont Borough, Buckingham Township) and New Hope-Solebury (New Hope Borough, Solebury Township) school districts. (But they are also mega-expensive - about $400,000 is pretty much the starting price for single family homes). Another nice but not so pricey area in Bucks would be the Neshaminy School District (Middletown Township, Lower Southampton Township, Hulmeville Borough, Penndel Borough, Langhorne Borough).

The following map shows the school districts http://www.bucksiu.org/aboutus/schools/....

They are all safe, family friendly communties with lots of open green space and some of the best school districts in the state. In particular, I think that Newtown is one of the family-friendliest areas in that they often host many family friendly events (a couple of these include: Welcome Day (http://www.newtownbpa.org/), First Fourth (http://www.newtownfirstfourth.com/),... First Night (http://www.firstnightnewtown.com/)....
Others
Chestnut Hill (Philadelphia County), King of Prussia, Blue Bell, Conshohoken (Montgomery County), Drexel Hill, Havertown, Ardmore (all Deleware County)
Haddonfield, nj - very good schools...
Bucks county is great.
Rosyln, Chestnut Hill, Jeinksville (check the spelling on that one)
Chestnut Hill is a great suburb to live. It is very rich in culture, some of the streets are still cobblestone. The homes are beautiful and it is an excellent place to raise children. There are plenty of things to do in the area such as art galleries and restaurants. But the best thing about living in Chestnut Hill is that it is only about 20 mins from Downtown Philadelphia.

Fox Chase is also a good community. The area features huge homes, one of the top cancer hospitals in the nation: Fox Chase Cancer Center, and its a good area to raise children.

Hope this helps.
The Wallingford/Swathmore area in Deleware county is very nice. Wallingford is right outside of Media which has a lot of nice restuarants and bars. The Nether Providence School District is also one of the best in the state. You can get the train into the city and enjoy all of the attractions there very easily.
