Travel Tips Far Northeast South Philadelphia (Stadium Area & Society Hill only) Southwest Philadelphia (Lindberg only) West Philadelphia (University City only) North Philadelphia (Northern Liberties & Art Museum only) Andorra Roxborough Manayunk Mount Airy (West is better than East) Wadsworth Chestnut Hill Old City All surburban areas in PA are pretty good but I wouldn't move to the following: Chester, Norristown, Cheltenham, Darby, Upper Darby, Colwyn, Coatesville & Yeadon. Cheltenham isn't bad, it just isn't my type of place. As for the out of state suburbs, stay away from Wilmington, DE and (the horror, the horror) Camden, NJ. Anyway, Chrisitana, DE is pretty nice. Others Go to Camden! anywhere in north philly, stay AWAY from south philly! If by "in Philadelphia" you mean within city limits, I would say that Fairmount is very nice - right in the Art Museum/Boat House Row area and close to Center City. Parts of South Philly are also nice family neighborhoods. The Old City area is also nice. Chestnut Hill and Roxborough are also very nice. If you include suburbs, it mainly depends on things like where in the city you want to conveniently get to (for work or whatever). I live in Delaware County (immediately west of the city) and there are plenty of great areas with nice schools that are good for raising children. Old City is nice, but properties are expensive. Fairmount & Port Richmond are both up and coming neighborhoods. Port Richmond is only a few minutes from Center City. None...Pennsylvania is a messed up state....not for long though as someone is drastically improving their Social Contract and reducing the violence big time. Hmmmmm.
