It seems to me the poorer neighborhoods will have higher crime. It's this way in every city in the World. Poor people are frustrated and take there frustrations out on each others and other people. You and I probably would as well if we were poor and didn't have the faith and "know how" to change our situation. I was born and lived in a pretty rough area until I was 8. When we moved out of the rough area I would still go over and visit friends and family who were there. It's amazing how much despair some of these people live with day to day. I wish there was a way to teach them they can get out of there situation with a change of attitude, determination and faith. I had a child hood friend who thought he couldn't go to malls or different neighborhoods because of were he was raised. He thought he was not "good enough". Its called a poor mans mind state. They feel like they would be better criminals than successful in legal jobs. I can't totally explain this way of thinking because I was raised to be a great citizen. yet I never thought I was too good for my old friends. Now most of those guys are dead, in jail, on drugs or have a criminal record that will haunt them forever. All of them ruined there lives before 21. I don't know the rate for South Philly, but I do know that most of the crimes happen in certain areas. A lot of them are in North and South philly. You're safe in Center City, though. You're safe in North and South Philly, too. You just have to be aware. It's pretty bad in west phila You can tell by looking. If the buildings have 3 layers of spray paint and there are burnt out buildings and burnt out cars everywhere then maybe the neighborhood isn't too safe. If there are young people sipping lattes and strolling then it is safe. Philly has VERY bad areas but it is obvious. anywhere...but especially in the middle of north and south philly but eveywhere in philly is dandgerous |
