Things to do in Philadelphia in one day? |
Travel Info Hey Guys, I'm taking a road trip across the country in about a week. One of the stops is Philly. I wanted to know from locals or people who have been there... What is the list of must-see things if I only have 1 day there? Thanks in advance! Travel Tips Philly is definitely worth a visit. However, if you want to do Philly as a day trip, then you should pick a section of downtown and plan to visit a few sites. I tried to select good places that don't necessarily draw big tourist crowds (except for the Constitution Center), but all are very interesting to see. The restaurants are close to the sites and relatively inexpensive. (**) = moderately priced in Center City North The Rodin Museum (Ben Franklin Parkway) Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts (N. Broad & Cherry) Places to eat: Reading Terminal, TGI Friday's, Rose Tatoo** in Olde City The National Liberty Museum (3rd & Chestnut) The Constitution Center (5th & Market) Places to eat: El Azteca, The Bourse Food Court, Society Hill Hotel & Restaurant, Jones** in Center City South Civil War Museum (18th & Pine) Antique Row (Pine St.) Places to eat: Monk's, Logan's Diner, Mixto**, Ted's Montana Grill** To travel cheaply: Philly PHLASH $1 per ride SEPTA $5 (all-day pass) Others South St eat at jims and goto the punk rock store next store well actually they moved it a block away but its still there King Tut at Franklin Institute Art Museum U Penn Museum Pretzel from a street vendor You can go visit the Gallery and/or South Street also Penn's Landing, and the crazy Rush Hour that Philly has(especially at 15th Street, where a mob of photographers and tourists can be found). I love the Philadelphia zoo, camden aquarium, and franklin institute. Eat a cheesteak... pat's gino's or tony lukes. Get a soft pretzel, or a tasty cake! History buffs... don't miss independence mall, statue of liberty, betsey ross house, etc... Enjoy your visit! www.gophila.com There is so much to see and do but with one day, you want to maximize your time. You may want to check out Ride the Ducks which is a bus/boat tour which will take you are the historic area of the city and along South Street (both are must see areas) and then enter the Delaware River to continue the tour. This would let you see a lot of the highlights of this part of the city with a knowledgeable guide, without spending a lot of time on a walking tour. Check out: http://www.phillyducks.com/ |
