Travel Tips
Shadyside is the classic better urban neighborhood...close to Carnegie Mellon and University of Pittsburgh with well kept homes. If going for the up and coming neighborhood, I would pick Lawrenceville (if Pittsburgh has an up and coming neighborhood). Other choices include Squirrel Hill, Regent Square, and Mt. Washington.
Others
In a cardboard box out on the pavement outside Mellon Arena....or maybe somewhere on the south side, make sure you dont move into a box that is already occupied tho, you could get knifed.
The Squirrel Hill area rocks!!! Lots of different cultures, lots of great food, lots to do. If I were to move back to the Pittsburgh, it's exactly where I'd go.
Depends what you can afford. Do you already live there?

I love Edgewood/Regent Square/Squirrel Hill, Lawrenceville .... everywhere

I miss the city I love!
Cranberry has lots to do and is still a nice neighborhood
