Travel Info I heard that the Atlantic city boardwalk burned down. I'm really not sos sure if its true. Please tell me what happened. Travel Tips Blaze hits A.C. Boardwalk No injuries were reported in the afternoon fire, but several windows in the Casino Control Commission's building were blown out. INQUIRER STAFF ATLANTIC CITY - Bright flames and thick smoke billowed from the famed Boardwalk yesterday afternoon, destroying about a half-dozen stores and damaging offices of the state Casino Control Commission. The blaze broke out around 2:30 p.m. not far from Resorts International, the city's first casino. No injuries were reported. Fire Capt. Mike Moony said the fire apparently began under a walk-up ramp to the Boardwalk near New York Avenue. He said homeless people often take shelter under the wooden ramp. Six large windows on the second story of the Casino Control Commission office were blown out and smoke throughout the building caused some problems, commission spokesman Daniel Heneghan said. The offices will be closed today. The fire damage "is actually minimal, aside from the windows. There was no charring of anything inside our building, but there is some debris around," Heneghan said. Heneghan said about 160 of the commission's 330 employees work out of the Tennessee Avenue building; the rest are inspectors assigned to the city's 11 casinos. Heneghan said gambling would not be affected by the fire. The fire was contained to a single building housing eight stores that sold T-shirts and other items. At least five of the stores were destroyed, authorities reported. Source(s): http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_upd...
