Car inspection in philadelphia? |
Travel Info My car is up for inspection in july, this is my first car. What exactly do they check for when inspecting your car, do they check brakes, and do anybody know how much inspection can cost in philadelphia? Travel Tips If you live in Philly, you will have to have an annual emissions test done along with the inspection. Cost of an inspection, pass or fail, is about $25 max. Cost of an emission test can vary, but don't pay over $30 for it. They will test the brakes for pad wear left, tire tread wear left, the horn to see if it blows, the lights to see if they work, as well as any rust through in the main body. If your car is only a year old and purchased new, you shouldn't have any problems. Others approx $77 if everything is OK if not could be anywhere on up all here in PDF http://www.dot3.state.pa.us/inspections/... http://www.drivecleanpa.state.pa.us/... The price can range depending on where you go. Check local ads to see who might be running a deal. My inspection usually cost $60.00. My advice is to get out of the city. Go to a place like Pepboys, Sears, or similar in King of Prussia or somewhere outside the city. Make it a day out and visit the mall to make good use of your time. If a city repair shop gets the idea that you are new to this process they will scam you. You have to seem like you know what your doing. If you must go someplace in the city ask around and see who the locals trust. The state inspection is a safety/emissions inspection. Cost will be between $60-$80 provided you do not need something. I would check you lights yourself before you go. They aways liek to hit you up for a light bulb which ends up costing $10-20 with their labor added. It actually costs a few dollars depending on the light needed. |
