Is it safe to travel to Palawan?

Sweetie, that happened six years ago. And immediately thereafter, Palawan suffered a whopping 95% reduction in tourism. And for a place that relies heavily on tourist dollars that's a big blow to the province's economy. Necessarily, local government (in cooperation with national & local law enforcement agencies) have put security as a priority. In reality, the chance of getting kidnapped there is about as likely as getting struck by lightning. So, yes, it's very safe to travel to Palawan. It's such an awesome place...really to die for (or is it to dive for?). So, when are we going?

it happened in dos palmas but the chances of it ever happening is very slim as tourism is one of the most protected industry in palawan.
Yes it is safe to travel to Palawan, kidnapping is gone, since Abu Sayyaf big leaders was terminated.

So far thats the only kidnapping case in Palawan that I know.

Yep! It is. I was there a few months ago and had a wonderful time. I'm sure it's safe, b/c I'm a US Peace Corps volunteer and they wouldn't place volunteers on the island if it wasn't.
Yes, Palawan is a safe place. The Dos Palmas was just an isolated incident. There are lots of resorts in Palawan and you can inquire about their security.

The only warning for Palawan tourists? Beware of mosquitoes. Malaria is common in Palawan so make sure you use enough mosquito-repellent lotion all over your body.
Yes there were 2 years ago. Go to Boracay it's safer.
