Sending mail to the Philppines via first-class mail? |
Travel Info I want to try and send out a few letters and card out to a friend in the Philippines in one letter size envelope and wonder the cost and what stamps to used for this. It looks like it's $.90 for anything under 1 ounces and $1.80 over 1 oz. I'm thinking it's going to be a bit more than 1oz. Could I used the .90 stamps listed on the below link: ? http://shop.usps.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s... Yes, I am from the US. Thanks! Travel Tips A three sheet letter and envelope will weigh in at about 1 oz. If you take the letter to the postoffice, they will calculate the cost for international rate mail. Ordinarly stamps are used for mailing international mail, too. The one thing that is good to add to the outside of the envelope is "AIRMAIL". That way the letter will not get intermingled in with domestic mail pieces. Source(s): http://www.usps.gov Other Travel Tips Looks like your estimates are correct. When in doubt, go to the Post Office. They will weigh your items and apply the proper postage. Ask any question you might have. They are helpful and knowledgeable. If you want to take a risk, just double the postage that you'd use to send within the U.S. If you are not positive of the weight of the envelope, it would be best just to take a few munutes and take the letter to the post office so they can weigh it and tell you the correct postage. All good advice, Just don't send ant thing of value, ie cash, the theft rate of US mail to the Philippines is quite high. |
