What is the maritime or insular location of the Philippines? |
Travel Info please help me....... Travel Tips The Philippines constitutes an archipelago of 7,107 islands with a total land area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres (116,000 sq. mi). It lies between 116掳 40' and 126掳 34' E. longitude, and 4掳 40' and 21掳 10' N. latitude, and borders the Philippine Sea on the east, on the South China Sea the west, and the Celebes Sea on the south. The island of Borneo lies a few hundred kilometers southwest and Taiwan directly north. The Moluccas and Sulawesi are to the south, and Palau is to the east beyond the Philippine Sea.[1] Others I hope this would help: http://www.geocities.com/athens/acropoli... Maritime claims: An irregular polygon extending up to 100 nautical miles from the coastline, as defined by an 1898 treaty. Since late 1970s the Philippines has also claimed a polygonal-shaped area in the South China Sea up to 285 nautical miles in breadth. |
