What is all the recent influx of Koreans in The Philippines about? Or specifically in Davao.?

Travel Info
I understand that many want to go learn English there at a very cheap price along with other foreigners but what about retirement, vacationing and living there as a Korean? Not just Korean but also other foreigners in general too. What about the tensions rising in schools and other areas and the "koreanizing" businesses there? How is life there as a Filipino/foreigner/tourist and what do you think of the new scenario as well as how does it impact your life there? The researching I did about this issue gave me biased answers and from my experiences there last summer, I spoke with a Korean in English and he told me he was there in Davao doing business in farms, but that was last year. Now, I see that the numbers coming are vast and everytime I ask I get the similar answer that "...you're just a 16 year old that does not need to worry about this stuff...". So what if I'm young? I'm interested in knowing about the ways of life that's changing there.

Travel Tips
Please welcome them with open arms.Koreans are a hardworking lot. As long as they are peaceful and doesnt cause physical harm or introduce society ills like drugs, heroins and all. There's nothing to worry about. Oftentimes, they are there to set up their own businesses or just to retire. I don't think their number is vast enough to cause a change in our culture.
And what about the tensions rising in school, I think that is good. You are being motivated to do good or be better than them. That's competition.
Look at it this way, we, Filipinos, also emigrate in USA, Canada, UK, etc in droves. Just apply your questions on that scenario to understand the whole picture.
Who knows Koreans might be the answer to our country's progress?
Others
Change happens. Sometimes, people immigrate because they like it better somewhere else. That's probably what's happening to your community right now.
they feel like celebrities - because of the recent influx of korean nobelas- they love it in here - because all koreanos look like jumong and all koreanas looks like janggeung or sosiono

--- wouldnt you go to indonesia - if all the people tell that you look like christian bautista and your peso is worth thousands - and the school you go to is recognized by the whole world but still cheap
Well they can't have the North so it just makes sence that they will move south and take over the Philippines.
Davao is nice place no need to worry about your future if happen you'll be studying in there. People will treat you righ vice versa. I have some korean friends who stayed in davao i met them in a gimmick bar and all they did was to enjoy enjoy enjoy
The influx of Koreans brings more tourists arrivals especially in Boracay and other tourist spot destinations in the Philippines. New businesses had opened up to accommodate there needs and new jobs for Filipinos was generated.
South Korea can be very expensive even for South Koreans themselves. This is why many Koreans go to the Philippines for vacation, retirement and even livelihood.

Foreign companies can earn much if they set up operations in the Philippines because labor is cheap. And because we have so many skilled laborers, foreign companies get so much more.

And then, like what you said, many Koreans go here to learn conversational English.

I don't know about tensions between Filipino and Korean students. Based on my experience in college, Korean students were nice and pretty much kept to themselves. They don't create controversies or do negative things against Filipino students.

I've also had several Korean and Chinese classmates in grad schools and they were low-profile.
