Yes it's a fruit. And because that starfruit has 4-5 sides, we call a person who have no loyalty and who takes different sides as balimbing.

Example: Your girlfriends argue. You take one side first. Then you change your mind and side with the other. Now, the rest will say you are "balimbing"

Its a noun, not a verb.
Balimbing means unfaithful..it is usually being used to refer to politicians or their supporters..in tagalog "taksil" or "sipsip".

If you are supporting a politician, and then he lost in the election, suddenly, you are supporting the politician who won in the election. you will be called sipsip.

ex: .Tessia Aquino Oreta, Edgardo Angara, Tito Sotto..

Sometimes a balimbing is also called 'aso' or ' tuta'.
it is a term use to people that sides on both side, just like in congress the majority and the minority
a turncoat...
or one who would change sides whenever its convenient or advantageous to do so...
Balimbing as you know is a star fruit. It has a lot of sides.

You are called "balimbing" if you are my best friend and then take the side of my enemy instead of believing in me.

You are a "balimbing" politico if you are from one party and then decide to join another party because of money or some other lame excuse. Or, you turn your back on your principles and the people who helped you.

Basically, it's a word to say that a person turns their back on you.
In Philippine politics it means a person who change party affiliation and loyalty perceive to suit his political interests and needs.

Example: Ang mga balimbing ay walang paninindigan. Translation: "Balimbing" has no principle.
