Are you in favor in giving all the mountains to the minority groups as their ancestral domains? |
Travel Info Today, all mountains are being destroyed because the government sold big portions to multinational companies for development of subdivisions and factories. Some lowlanders managed to have hundreds of hectars of land titled to their names for their farms. Minorities like Mangyan , Aeta, Igorots, Manobo have few lands left..and they are forced to go on the mountain top where life is harder and fewer source of food... Historically, the whole Philippines belonged to them, we, the educated, so called Filipinos now are all migrants here from our ancestors which are either Spanish, Americans, Chinese, Malay, and Arabs. Minorities/aborigines were forced to go to mountains when our ancestors occupied the lowland from 1200-1900. And now, year 2007, we are starting to occupy the mountains already.. Where will they go next? Travel Tips Yes, we should give all the ancestral domains to the minority groups, as it is their own right and prerogative. After all, we have vast tracts of lowlands that we have already gotten thousands of years ago so I guess it is fitting and proper that their only land now will be given them. Others yes of course. They are much more disciplined than those in the city. Look our bodies of water in Manila and some estuarines in Cavite. All are ruined. They also should receive livelihood trainings and other forms of education to enhance their living conditions. Most of their artworks are popular, not only for its unique craftmanship but as well their adept use of materials and designs. This is tantamount to giving them exclusive territories similar to what the US government did to American Indians (i.e, placed them in "autonomous" settlements or reservations). On paper, it seems like a good idea but I just can't see how the Philippine government will handle it logistically. It's like opening Pandora's box because this is yet another source of corruption and further exploitation. I'm more inclined to propose an integrated program of assimilation. They are, after all, Filipinos too. they will be at the city proper by 2010...鈽?br /> yeah i strongly agree that they deserve all the rights to own the mountains... they should join our civilization and not cling to their old ways. I pity these peoples who still did not know that the russians have arrive in philippines soil, the koreans inveaded our cities, and man has landed in the moon. They can be modern while at the same time preserving their unique culture and tradition. What will they get up there in high mountains except mosquito bites, blood thirsty-leeches, and poisonous plants and animals. The senate must pass a bill for the protection of our natives or minorities and our ancestral domain including the source of livelihood. I beg to differ dahlings, I say award it to them. Is it such a big fuss to propagate the idea of progress? We've seen what's happened to the Native American Indians as well as the aborigines of Australia. Will we follow suit and sacrifice a part of our heritage, yes a part of our heritage dahlings to bunch of money hungry and power greedy people in monkey suits? Why should they be forced to adhere to us and our way of life dahlings? If one thinks of it, a lot of their ways might teach us a lot of lessons especially in values, character and humility. |
