Why is that the Philippines lags behind Malaysia in producing its own cars? |
Travel Info Considering Malaysia has 29 million population (small market) and the Philippines has 80 million plus heads (big market) Malaysia has Proton and Perodua competing in their local market, Philippine made car, still a dream? What is your conclusion? Travel Tips Scale of economy, if the average person can not afford it, then why bother trying to market it. Others The North American cars (Ford, GMC, etc) are not appealing to North American Market. We now prefer Japanese made cars. Same thing in the Philippines I guess, they prefer Japanese made cars (Honda, Toyota). Besides Proton and Perodua are full of crap. Half the working population of the Philippines earn LESS than US$2 per day. That's 730 bux a year at most. I don't think anybody sells a viable car for a fraction of that amount. The Philippines in theory could manufacture these cars at a production level that would warrant export overseas. The only reason why it hasn't happened is because so many people involved in the development of a transportation concern got tired of greasing the gears, no pun intended, of the officials that are "overseeing" these operations. Do not worry because i would not drive or sit on the car made in malaysia or made in china anyday huh,because i do not wanna die yet thought.The only car i drive forever is JAPANESE car and maybe KOREAN but not any other asian build,period!GERMAN,SWEDEN,FRA... are all luxery anyway!U.S.A car i like cadillac escalader linlcond navigator only! Because Philippine is an Archipelago (many islands) and we got hard time with the car sales. So less sales, less manufacturing. Plus the selling value of the car are expensive for a middle class family/person. we produce jeepneys, tricycles and padyak |
