What do you think regarding the aid/help that's coming from the Americans/U.S.? |
Travel Info Is it really for the upliftment of the Filipinos/Philippines? Why? Travel Tips we've been receiving aids in the past and it's not gotten us anywhere. we are still poor and we still owe a lot of money from the world bank. we can hardly pay the interest. my parents said that an unborn filipino child is already in debt because of what we owe. if the aid is for the upliftment of the filipinos.. it's not working. everytime i see GMA in the U.S. asking for aid my mind says: here we go again, namamalimos na naman tayo kay uncle sam. it's always with a string attach. bear in mind that U.S. is generous to his allies but the time will come for a payback. Others Although I'm Brazillian, I think americans in general are very generous. Of course there are exceptions.I know a lot of american people and the ones that I know are really very good people! I think it comes with strings attached. If they do not give you aid, you may turn to China and turn red , and then the US will lose an ally in the region. It will also lose a big market for its products and services as the Chinese will now annex you economically. A stable Philippines is good for US business and US geopolitics. America does very little without an ulterior motive except during disasters and things like that. But then, I do not know of many countries./people that help without ulterior motives. The one that does things totally without any expectation of payback or benefit is Saudi Arabia, maybe. And Mother Theresa. Is it good for you? Well, yes and no. It is good to get aid, but for how long? If I were a Filipino, I would try to be as independent as possible as soon as possible. It is just a matter of pride. Not entirely, but in large part, yes. The strings? It depends on the organization's mission. Religious orgs. also want to impart christianity or some sect of it to their beneficiaries. Foreign govt aid comes with the not so implicit political loyalty clause (ie, dont go to China). The UN does it because it is required by its charter. The UN also knows that a healthy and educated country will be less of a financial or resources burden to the organization, so there is a practical aspect to it. I wouldn't know their hidden agende as to why they are giving aids, but whatever is it, I hope GMA would always think of her people first before her vested interest (dream on). what sort of aid was that? |
