It is a really beautiful and peaceful area to visit. However, if you don't like hiking and outbacking, you won't want to devote to long to the stay. Otherwise, there is some great hiking and Jeep trips to be had.

I used to live in Camp Verde, and I liked visiting Sedona. I did not know they had energy vortexes (darn, I missed that). I liked it up there because 1) it was cooler, 2) it was pretty, 3) it has all these really cool rock formations and oddly shaped hills/mountains all around, plus of course there's the red soil which makes it seem kinda "out of this world". Cool place.

Yes, there is something strange going on there. I think that post office is swamped with packages from tourists who picked up a rock and its energy wrecked their lives so they send it back. And it's all rocks. Sedona is a vortex.

i never heard of energy vortexes, but when we went there two years ago, it is very beautifle and peacful. lots of good hiking places and creeks, fishing, Pink Jeep and Hummer touring which is a very interesting expierience, not a lot of people, and is just beautifle. a great place to go when you need to get away from the big city or plain life.
There are a lot of people who go to Sedona because they believe in the metaphysical powers of vortexes. There are psychic shops, crystal shops, and all kinds of other places like that around town. Because of that, the town has also attracted an artistic element that has brought some added beauty to the area.

I don't believe in all the "spiritual" stuff, but the colors are gorgeous. The rocks are red because of the high mineral content causing rust to form. There is a creek called Oak Creek that runs through the town, which is very beautiful. There are places you can go and have a picnic by the creek and take lovely photographs, my favorite past time.

You can take jeep tours through the area, helicopter or hot air balloon rides, or hikes among the many trails.
