It is different in the UK from Arizona and Pheonix. The weather is different and our culture is somewhat different too. If you love very hot and dry, then your area beats the UK, though this is much warmer than it used to be. There's currently 73 degrees F, planned for Saturday, which is above the seasonal average.

The people's oulook differs too, and varies by UK area. Typically northerners are known for being more friendly, I know this varies in the US, from my experience of West coast, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona and California. We have few Mexicans here, although have more people now from mainland Europe, as well as sizeable black, Indian and other nationalities somewhat integrated here. Our population is around 60 million, and we are quite tightly packed in, in the area from Manchester southwards.

Our economy is somewhat strong (depending on opinions!) and we also benefit from short flying times - and cheap fares - to other european countries, which is a huge bonus if you love to travel.

London is in a world of its own. People tend to be more rushed, a bit more closed to others, and yet there is tons to see and do there. As the UK is small - think of Californian size - it can be easy to travel around and experience the great variety that is around. Northern Ireland is part of the UK, as is Scotland and Wales. You will find separate languages, though English is broadly spoken everywhere. You may find that the 'Can do' attitude is a little softer here than in the US too. If you have it, there is tons of opportunity for entrepeneurs and career minded people. There are restrictions on types of visas, as you'd expect with most places in the world.

Otherwise, we have great international universities, such as Oxford and Cambridge, as well as many others.

We don't have GWBush, which some view as either positive or negative, (typically not that respected here) though our economies are somewhat linked. There is a different currency too, the UK pound - or pound sterling. This is strong against the dollar, currently at almost 2 pounds to the dollar.

Just a quick flavour and a few thoughts. I've lived and worked in several countries, including the US, and love it here. Are you originally from New York, hence your mention of this? New Yorkers love it here, generally - though NYC is much faster paced.

Good luck! Rob
