Travel Info Please find activities in tempe/mesa for wheelchair bound adults? Travel Tips Do you like movies? Did you know that the new Harkins Theater is already open at the SanTan Mall? It'll be quite a few months before the rest of the mall opens...everything else is still being built. So, it's kind of exciting to take in a movie there right now, knowing that you're "one of the first" to use the new mall's facilities. Naturally, the Harkins has wheelchair spots in each auditorium. The address there is 2298 E Williams Field Rd, Gilbert; use the Williams Field Road exit off the new 202 Freeway. Do you like road trips? Want to see a huge, beautiful gorge? Take the US 60/AZ 77 two-lane road north from Globe. You can see the breathtaking Salt River Canyon gorge. There's a restroom with handicap facilities at the gorge. If you'd like a shorter scenic drive, head north on Power Rd. You'll pass lots of saguaro cacti, plus a number of places to have a picnic. Go far enough, and you can even picnic by the beautiful Saguaro Lake. How about "doing lunch" at the new Dana Park shopping center? It's not a mall, but it's VERY impressive...with marble columns, fountains, etc. Quite upscale! The entire center isn't even open yet, but there are a number of dining choices there. Don't forget that there are major new shopping/dining/entertainment projects being built in Tempe and Mesa right now. Soon, you'll be able to explore a new center at the 101/202 intersection not far from ASU, and another one at 202 & Dobson...also not far from ASU. |
