Is moving to Phoenix Az a good move?

I currently live in Philadelphia with my parents, I am 26, it is time for a change. I have been thinking of moving but I want to leave Philadelphia, I want to know if moving to Phoenix, Az would be a good change for a single girl on her own.

Phoenix is very much like any other big town -- has its nicer neighborhoods and has its areas you don't go into if you're smart, has a good nightlife and plenty of things to do, and it probably ranks right up there with Philly in terms of "nice" big cities. The only problem is it's about half a mile from the surface of the sun, and they have regular problems with cars bursting into flames on hot days (no, I am NOT making this up -- they call them "car-B-Q's), so if you can't take extreme heat I would advise you against living there. Take a long weekend trip out there to check it out if you can.

I have visited there. IT is BEAUTIFUL!. Take a trip to Sedona AZ. You'll never see a more beautiful landscape.

Besides the summer heat there is a LOT of crime. I think you can do better. Check out Salt Lake City. Portland, Or. (great), Vancouver, WA. Sacramento, CA. Denver, CO. Little Rock, AR. There are great cities in this country. Don't commit until you check out a lot of them. Good Luck to you.
i LOVE phoenix...and sedona is amazing too. i kinda like tucson better than phoenix but theyre kinda different so..move to phoenix! i'm moving to AZ the first chance i get

I have lived in Phx and Sedona. Love them both. 26 and single will probly thrive better in Phx. Laid back people, good food, great weather if you can stand a few months in the summer, the winters make it worth it! Definatly one of the cheaper bigger cities but no more crime than the rest. I worked as a 911 operator, moved there on my own as well and loved it. I also think Payson is worth checking into. Little cooler, smaller but worth the trip. Stay away from living in Mesa, Phx, Glendale, Tolleson and the southwest part of Phx. Scottsdale, Peoria, Carefree, Surprise - Northern area is better. Any questions feel free to ask! I do agree w/the Answer who suggested you checkout other cities. SLC, Oregon, Texas and even Nevada. Good Luck!
Phoenix, AZ is great! Im moving right back to it in a week! Beautiful city, nice and warm all year (hot in the summers of course but so what its so beautiful).
It all depends what you are looking for. Yes, Sedona is nice, but it also about 1.75 to 2 hours north of phoenix. I personally reside in Downtown Tempe which is where Arizona State's main campus is. The nightlife is in either downtown Tempe or Scottsdale. As a low key relaxed kind of person who doesn't have a feel for the dramatic, I tend to stick to Tempe instead of Scottsdale. Sports are based in Tempe, Downtown Phoenix and the city of Glendale. Based on National Geographic Statistics. Being a single woman in Phoenix is a good thing as Phoenix and surround areas are predominately male. Simply take a look at the link I provide for you below.
