I'm going to Tempe this weekend (conference as ASU)! I have Saturday and Sunday to roam. Where should I go? |
Travel Info I have never been to Arizona and know nothing about what to do there. Please help! Travel Tips If you'd prefer not to make the 6+ hour drive to the grand canyon, there is plenty of great stuff to do in the Phoenix metro area. For vegetarian dining, I suggest: the all-vegetarian soul food of Green (2240 N. Scottsdale Rd. #8 Tempe, Arizona 85281) vegetarian-friendly and delicious Carly's (2nd street and Roosevelt, downtown Phoenix) That's a Wrap (7th street and Palm Lane, downtown Phoenix) The Willow House (3rd avenue and McDowell, downtown Phoenix) In the evenings, be sure to check out some of the experimental art spaces and clubs in Phoenix, such as Modified Arts (407 E Roosevelt St), Trunk Space (1506 NW Grand Ave) or the Paper Heart (750 NW grand ave). Also check out awesome, creative student art work Art One Gallery in downtown Scottsdale (4120 N Marshall Way #1) and there's some other neat things to do in downtown Scottsdale. I also recommend checking out Steele Indian School park in Phoenix (Central and Indian School) to learn more about the site of a former Native American boarding school, and stopping at Burton Barr library (Central and McDowell), because it is an awesome work of architecture. Others Grand Canyon. Well it's really a wide open question especially considering that you haven't mentioned: a. How much you are willing to spend. b. Whether your question refers to staying there or the partying or even shopping. c. What is your age group/profile and what are your specific likes and dislikes. I think you should call the people you are going to meet to give you a couple of options. Then go from there. Go to the Grand Canyon by way of Sedona and Flagstaff. Return by way of the Sunset Crater Volcano and the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff. Bring plenty of warm clothes for the high country. You might consider visiting Grand Canyon's newest attraction (see link) and don't forget to visit the IMAX theater just outside the park. http://www.grandcanyonskywalk.com/... go to sedona...it's like 2 hours from phoenix. it's amazing. ryt near the campus is mill avenue. it has many shops and such. very popular at nyt w the college people. if u like hiking there is many places to go such as south mountain n tempe, camel back mountain with a good mall , fashion sqaure, in scotsdale bout 25 from there. ask around also hope u have fun.check out cheba hut |
